China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland Ambassador Jia Guide Exchanges Views with Permanent Representatives of Several Countries

On August 13, 2026, Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, held a collective meeting with Permanent Representatives of Cambodia, Nepal, South Africa, Algeria, Chile and Peru, for in-depth exchanges on multilateral work at Geneva, global challenges brought by emerging new tech, and other topics of common interest.

Ambassador Jia noted that Geneva, home to numerous United Nations specialized agencies and international organizations, serves as a vital platform for addressing global challenges. At a time of growing global turbulence and transformation, multilateralism and the role of the United Nations are facing serious challenges. Developing countries should support one another on issues bearing on their core interests, strengthen cooperation within the Geneva platform, work to improve global governance, and safeguard the common interests of the Global South.

The Permanent Representatives thanked China for providing this platform for exchange. They expressed their readiness to deepen practical cooperation in such areas as human rights, humanitarian affairs, health, telecommunications, science and technology, to jointly uphold multilateralism, and to contribute to advancing global governance reform.
